I’m currently in excitement mode for what 2024 will bring and with that my mind goes into overdrive as to what my goals will be and how I will achieve them.
There will be a key focus on two aspects of my life which are both about self-development:
- Growing my business
- Getting myself to optimum health
As I ponder what that looks like the thing that comes to the forefront of my mind is HABITS. Habit’s will be what will help me reach my goals in 2024.
How can you create habits to live by?
Habit stacking is a successful way to incorporate new habits into your daily life.
What is habit stacking?
It’s when you introduce a new habit and stack it on top of an old habit.
Find a habit you have that is non-negotiable, something you always do and introduce a new habit onto the end of that one. For example, you want to ensure you’re cleansing every morning. You already brush your teeth every day, this is a non-negotiable, place the cleanser with your toothbrush / paste and start cleansing after you’ve brushed your teeth before long this will be a daily habit that you don’t even think about because you’ve stacked it on top of an existing habit.
You can continue to stack on top of these habits or use the same process for other habits at different times of the day.
The beauty of this process is you’re not setting yourself up to fail by creating a long list of ‘must do’ things to determine success. You’re introducing one habit at a time and mastering it before moving onto the next thing.
Have you heard of the 1%ers?
It’s a phrase often used in sport and business, but we can apply it to our own everyday lives.
Focusing on stacking one habit at a time means we’re just trying to improve 1% each day. However, as we continue to improve each day, the results will continue to snowball into bigger outcomes.
Commit to the 21/90 Rule
The 21/90 rule tells us that it takes 21 days to form a habit, however if we continue with the habit for 90+ days it becomes a part of our lifestyle.
That’s why when we commit to a 30-day challenge we can see results as we create habits, but it’s important to continue with these habits to ensure they become a part of our lifestyle.
Consistency is key.
Stay tuned, I’ll be sharing my goals and key areas of focus for 2024 in the new year. I’ll be creating a plan to habit stack in a bid to improve individually and professionally?
Do you have a habit you’d like to introduce in 2024?
Tell me about it?
M.
