Benefits of a Toner

Recently Arbonne introduced a new range called the DermResults Advanced.  
It includes a 3-step and a 5-step bundle.

During a recent group discussion with some of my customers we got chatting about the benefits of a good toner.  And to be completely honest everyone was a bit unsure what the benefits actually were.  Alas I thought it was the perfect opportunity to deep dive into this topic. 

 

Originally Toners were designed to balance out our PH levels in our skin and were mostly alcohol based.  However, these days they are tailored as a skin care step we use in between cleansing and applying a moisturiser or serum.

Why?
A toner is designed to refresh your skin after a cleanse preparing it to absorb all the moisture from your serum / moisturizer.  It is also likely to remove any additional impurities or residue left after a cleanse.

What ingredients make up the toner?

Urban Myths
During our discussion a couple of the misconceptions that arose were:
Toners are good for teenagers.  Not so much for older people as it's going to dry out your skin.  This isn't true, toners have advanced over time and are now designed to help hydrate your skin.

Toners will shrink your pores. This isn't the case.  I mentioned earlier that it works to minimize your pores, however what this actually references are clean pours.  The size of your pores doesn't change, however dirty pores are visually more obvious than clean pores.
